Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis
Holding space for your unique experience and the relationship that we create is paramount in my work. I have ten years of post-graduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. Both of these modalities allow for the freedom to explore your inner world and create an understanding of how your past affects your current life patterns.
For those who would like a more intensive process and are curious to know themselves on a deeper level , psychoanalysis is an enriching route. Psychoanalysis has evolved quite a bit from the time Freud first coined it as the "talking cure" in 1895. The method of psychoanalysis involves freely saying whatever comes to your mind so that with time, you can become more consciously aware of your blind spots and your inner world in general. We also talk about your dream life and the ways in which you may unconsciously protect yourself from pain.
Psychoanalytic therapy typically evolves over a period of time, as this allows for a more intensive process and therapeutic relationship to develop. In this way, we can together look at the internal and relational patterns that emerge with compassion and curiosity. Frequency and cost is discussed a the outset of the process. Psychoanalysis sessions can be done remotely or by phone in Houston, and in person in Austin, TX.
I am an in advanced training for psychoanalysis at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston. I am also the president-elect for the Houston Psychoanalytic Society and a member and participated as a mentor in the mentorship program of the Austin Psychoanalytic Society. I am also the Clinic Director for Depth Counseling Texas, a group psychotherapy practice offering long-term, psychoanalytic psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families in Chicago and Texas.
